WASHINGTON, D.C. Nuclear Innovation Alliance Executive Director Judi Greenwald issued the following statement on the release of topline spending figures for the U.S. Department of Energy and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in President Biden’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 budget request:

"We are encouraged by the topline spending figures included in the President's budget request for FY 2023. Development and wide scale deployment of advanced nuclear technologies are a key piece of the overall solution to meeting climate and energy goals at home and abroad. This budget request specifically prioritizes Department of Energy investment in high-assay low-enriched uranium availability. Robust investments in research, development, and commercialization of advanced reactors with effective and efficient licensing are important to meeting climate goals and developing the clean energy economy: this budget continues progress in these areas. We look forward to seeing more on the President's budget request and Congressional action on this budget request with the hope that these important priorities will be supported in the final version that is enacted."
