WASHINGTON – The Board of Directors of the Nuclear Innovation Alliance (NIA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ashley Finan as the organization’s Executive Director, effective immediately. The Nuclear Innovation Alliance supports entrepreneurialism and the accelerated innovation and commercialization of advanced nuclear energy systems with the goal of providing more economically competitive, carbon-free energy to the world.
“We’re very pleased that Dr. Finan is taking on this leadership role at NIA,” said Armond Cohen, co-Chairman of the Board. “Her passion and commitment to deploying a new generation of innovative nuclear energy systems is coupled with her deep knowledge of the underlying technology and public policy landscape. Her new role will make NIA an even more effective leader in shaping an improved regulatory and policy framework for these new clean energy solutions.”
Dr. Finan was previously director of nuclear innovation at Clean Air Task Force and has been serving as interim policy director for the NIA. She successfully led several projects identifying opportunities for improvements in nuclear energy research and development, regulation, demonstration, and international partnerships.
“I am excited to work with the NIA Board to help the organization grow and expand its partnerships with other groups,” said Dr. Finan. “The NIA has an important role in addressing the immediate challenges facing nuclear innovation through action research and policy development, and I am grateful for the opportunity to lead those efforts.”
Ashley Finan holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
