WASHINGTON, D.C. NIA Executive Director Judi Greenwald provided the following statement on the Senate's passage of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022:

“NIA is incredibly encouraged to see the Inflation Reduction Act progress through the Senate and commends its efforts over the weekend. This sends a strong signal to the country about the importance of investing in advanced nuclear energy and in climate and energy solutions more broadly. We urge the House of Representatives to work with the same diligence as the Senate to swiftly advance this legislation for the President's signature."

In its most recent Climate Change Mitigation Report, AR6-WG3, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) presented strategies to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. In its assessment, the IPCC concluded that the world is on track for a nearly 3°C warming by 2100, and that countries must take immediate action to address climate change.
