Nuclear Innovation Alliance Executive Director Judi Greenwald issued the following statement on the release of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework:
"The Nuclear Innovation Alliance strongly supports the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework that is being considered in the U.S. Senate. This bipartisan legislation would provide the foundation for reaching the nation's long-term climate, economic, and justice goals. It contains many provisions that will strengthen the resiliency of the energy system while creating jobs and economic growth.
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework rightly recognizes the important role of advanced nuclear energy in achieving national decarbonization. By providing full funding for two large demonstration projects under the Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program, the Framework would catalyze private sector innovation and cement U.S. leadership in advanced nuclear technologies. Further, the Framework would ensure prevailing wages benefit local communities for demonstration projects, accelerate the commercialization of microreactors through DOE procurement, and ensure advanced nuclear energy is considered in national deep decarbonization modelling and planning. Finally, the Framework invests in and incentivizes the production of clean hydrogen and clean heat in addition to clean electricity.”
