WASHINGTON D.C. (January 25, 2023) Advanced nuclear reactor companies are achieving rapid progress and are quickly moving towards the deployment of first-of-a-kind (FOAK) reactors. These novel technologies are poised to help combat climate change and meet energy security needs but will need to first be licensed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The NRC is the independent federal agency that licenses and permits the construction and operation of nuclear reactors in the United States. For several years, there have been bi-partisan efforts in Congress to modernize the NRC’s operations to reduce barriers to advanced nuclear energy deployment.

WASHINGTON D.C. (April 15, 2022) - In its most recent Climate Change Mitigation Report, AR6-WG3, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) presented strategies to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. In its assessment, the IPCC concluded that the world is on track for a nearly 3°C warming by 2100, and that countries must take immediate action to address climate change.
