Nuclear Innovation Alliance submitted this Statement for the Record for the United States Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing on “The Infrastructure Needs of the U.S. Energy Sector, Western Water and Public Lands, and Consideration of a Legislative Proposal.” NIA strongly supports the proposed legislation which would build a strong foundation for advanced reactors to contribute to climate mitigation.

Nuclear Innovation Alliance evaluated the existing license fee system at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and found that it poses a barrier to advanced nuclear innovation. Reforming the fee system can unlock innovation and enable climate mitigation from next generation nuclear energy.
