Washington, D.C. (March 22, 2023) The following statement may be attributed to Nuclear Innovation Alliance (NIA) Executive Director Judi Greenwald:
“I am pleased to welcome Stephen Greene and Marc Chupka to the Nuclear Innovation Alliance team as senior fellows. Marc and Stephen bring with them several decades of experience in energy finance, energy and environmental policy, and energy market analysis. They will provide expert advice to NIA on advanced nuclear energy finance and economics.
“Marc has over 35 years of experience analyzing the market impacts of both domestic and international energy and environmental policy, including serving as the acting Assistant Secretary for Policy and International Affairs for the U.S. Department of Energy and as chief economist at the White House Office on Environmental Policy. Marc consulted on a broad range of energy issues for utilities, trade associations, and investors as a principal at The Brattle Group, focusing on issues related to grid resilience, clean energy, and climate policy. He is currently the President of Trailhead Energy Consulting.
“Stephen has held senior finance roles including Chief Financial Officer and head of Corporate Development and Strategy for Centrus Energy, a public company engaged in the sale of nuclear fuel and the development of nuclear enrichment technology. He led strategy for Progress Energy, an investor-owned electric utility, and served as practice-area leader for Pace Global Energy on energy markets and risk management. He arranged project financing and developed the power market outlook for PG&E National Energy Group, a leading independent-power developer and energy trader. Early in his career he worked at USEPA on air-pollution rules. He is currently a consultant on energy and finance issues.
“Advanced nuclear energy is poised to play an increasingly important role in meeting mid-century climate goals. The addition of Marc and Stephen to our team will help ensure that we have the right mix of experience and insight on advanced nuclear energy commercialization.”
