WASHINGTON D.C. The Nuclear Innovation Alliance (NIA) shared the following statement in response to Ho Nieh being Named the 20th Chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. This statement may be attributed to NIA President and CEO Judi Greenwald:
"As commercialization efforts accelerate, how we deploy and scale nuclear energy must reinforce its credibility. This means safeguarding regulatory integrity, transparency and public trust in the NRC.
NIA congratulates Ho Nieh on becoming the new NRC Chair. He is exceptionally well qualified to tackle the ambitious NRC reform agenda. He brings a breadth and depth of experience at NRC, international organizations and industry. At his confirmation hearing, he emphasized the importance of NRC’s mission, independence, organizational culture, and excellent staff.
We are also grateful to David Wright for serving as Chair, and for staying on as a Commissioner. His wisdom and experience will continue to be an asset to the Commission."
